electron spin..........
this doubt may be simple for many ppl here.............so can u pl help me out..........
does the electron literally rotate in the energy shells..........around the nucleus ?????..........wat happened of the Maxwells laws if it does rotate.........????

Re: electron spin..........
energy states r fixed
it does rotate but we can't specify where ...so we cant say abt enegy
1 atom may b losing energy while the other gaining it so net is conserved
:maybe:

Re: electron spin..........
if we consider only 1 atom.........the energy it will loose (will b probably taken by another atom........)but due to the energy loss wont electron collapse in the nucleus...........
Re: electron spin..........
i think in this case we consider stationary energy states...........
where the electron wont lose or gain energy if it is orbiting in a shell
where the electron wont lose or gain energy if it is orbiting in a shell
Re: electron spin..........
well i think it was where a good theory collapsed(i don't remember the name)
then there was some hypothesis and thats all
i'll try to search it

Re: electron spin..........
i think maxwell laws produce the theory of stationary energy states
but again it is just a hypothesis
but again it is just a hypothesis
Re: electron spin..........
check out my first post again...
its just a hypothesis...
i m talking of a single atom-1 elec loses energy to move towards nucleus while other gains it..elec conf r just probability func based on inf uncertainty...

Re: electron spin..........
sorry..here's the rite explanation..
in bohr's stationary states, speed of electron is fixed,so constant acceleration and no radiations

Re: electron spin..........
constant acc???????
how can it be????????
if acc were to b constt wouldnt it go out of reach of atom/nucleus..........????????????

Re: electron spin..........
Maxwell's equations have no relation to the movement of the electron. They describe the distribution of electromagnetic waves but not the movement of a particle such as an electron. In Maxwell's theory, the charge - electron is considered local, as though the particle is at rest. This means that if te particle does not move rectilinearly, but rotates around the diameter (has the form of a sphere).

Re: electron spin..........
ah well NCERT states the elec are in stationary wave form and so no transfer of energy...
